The 10th Socioculture Innovation Award, endowed with a total of 18,000 euros, went to three extraordinary participatory projects that dealt with the topic of ‘sustainability’ from 2020 to 2022. The award jury selected three winners from eight nominated projects. All of the nominated activities contributed to the fact that children, young people, adults, participants and audiences gave their own thoughts to the topic and found diverse artistic forms of expression.

  • Founding meeting of a climate parliament of all beings and non-beings (metagarten & helfersyndrom e. V.)
  • STREETWARE – Saved Item (Kunstasyl e.V.)
  • Altenburg by the sea - a socio-cultural river tour (Other Music Academy e. V.)

The Innovation Award of Fonds Soziokultur is awarded every two years on a relevant social or cultural topic. The aim of the fund is to emphasise the special contribution of socio-cultural initiatives and institutions to overcoming cultural challenges and social negotiation processes. Themes such as homeland, exclusion or cultural work beyond the metropolises sum up what applicants achieve in socioculture: providing artistic and creative answers to pressing social issues and translating these into the everyday practice of those involved using a wide range of methods.

The award-winning projects have special appeal, combine art, participation and social issues in an exemplary manner and offer platforms for participation and further thinking with unusual formats. The award emphasises the particular importance of socio-cultural project work for participation, cultural co-production and social development through culture.

The award ceremony took place on 20 October 2022 in Berlin.
