The Fonds Soziokultur e. V. supports temporary projects with a model character in accordance with its statutes. They are intended to set an example for other socio-cultural projects and organisations. Socioculture aims to address and expand the aesthetic, communicative and social needs and skills of all citizens. The promotion of socio-cultural projects contributes to equal cultural opportunities and thus further develops democratic culture in Germany, with the aim of providing cultural education for children, young people and adults through sharing and appropriating cultural and artistic forms of expression as well as encouraging and enabling active participation in social life. 

The guiding principle of the Fonds Soziokultur's funding practice is to strengthen innovation and continuity in socio-cultural practice. It supports self-organisation and self-responsibility in cultural work.

The budget of the Fonds Soziokultur is provided by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media.
