The project “Concrete Bridges—Generations in Dialogue” connects people of different generations and social backgrounds through collaborative artistic work in public spaces.
In neighborhoods such as Boxberg in Heidelberg, Hemshof in Ludwigshafen, and along the Neckar promenade in Mannheim, dense residential structures, social challenges, and a lack of suitable meeting places come together. There, intergenerational encounters can create new opportunities for exchange, participation, respect, and solidarity. Young people and seniors meet as equals, share their experiences and perspectives, and jointly shape the past, present, and future of their neighborhood.
Through analog photographs, interviews, collages, and joint presentations, personal stories and new perspectives on life in the neighborhood are created. The goal is to view one’s own living environment from different angles and to develop mutual understanding and new forms of coexistence.
