Today, there is a lack of narratives about futures that are more socially just and inclusive. We asked ourselves: What does this do to our view of society and coexistence? In a creative design-futuring process, a diverse group designed future scenarios around the year 2030 to stimulate a discourse on various visions of the future. From autumn ‘23 to August “24, the design studio & social enterprise koralle and the photographic artist Nicole Benewaah Gehle realised the ”ArteFakt2030’ project together with 20 lifeworld experts. The creative process enabled an analytical and strategic examination of potential futures. The project team is therefore not leaving the future to previous decision-makers alone, but is instead focussing on the participation of people who are often excluded due to discrimination. Their valuable perspectives on social change processes and their knowledge take centre stage:

In four workshops, they worked on the topics of housing and politics, researched trends and derived possible consequences. Based on the jointly gained insights, the living environment experts and project team designed future scenarios and artefacts that were made tangible and open to public discussion in the exhibition ‘Different Futures Make A Dialogue | Prototypical Futures 2030-2040’. In a workshop with various stakeholders (including politics, business, administration) from Bremen and the surrounding area, who have a significant influence on social transformation processes, they built bridges to the present and derived possible courses of action that will lead us to desirable futures. The results were integrated into the exhibition.
