The composition of the overall financing of the projects clearly shows how active and agile cultural workers are and need to be. The financing, administration and implementation of projects is complex and requires a lot of preparation. The various funding bodies each have their own deadlines, funding criteria and funding objectives. Nevertheless, the actors manage to contribute almost 40% of third-party and own funds to the financing. It is still almost always the case that every federal euro from the Fonds Soziokultur is almost doubled at the project level, not including thousands of hours of volunteer work. The federal states and local authorities together contribute 14% to project funding, and the own funds and project income used, totalling around 14.4%, are on a par with this.

What this chart does not show is the basic financial commitment of the third-party funding providers mentioned. This can be much higher, for example for permanent staff or operating costs of an association, which are not reflected in the project applications to the Fonds Soziokultur.

What this chart also does not show is the enormous amount of unpaid work hours required in advance for project financing and administration with an open outcome, which means that independent cultural organisations take on a high risk in favour of cultural participation and involvement.
