Techlab: Socioculture
A pilot project of Fonds Soziokultur in cooperation with the European Space Agency (ESA) and the German Aerospace Centre (DLR)
At first glance, space technology and socioculture speak different languages, but in Techlab: Socioculture they merge to a promising tandem. How can socioculture use digital and space-based technologies to further develop its programmes and approaches, sustainably strengthen them and have an even stronger impact? How do we use satellite data in the neighbourhood to design a more climate-friendly urban district, how do we overcome distances between people in rural areas? How can we take more control of our data usage with our own technical understanding?
Together with ESA, DLR and 12 highly ambitious sociocultural organisations selected through a nomination and jury process, Fonds Soziokultur is starting this experiment. Over a funding period of one year, the organisations receive funding and go through three phases in which they are advised by international experts from the fields of culture, strategy, technology and product development.
With Techlab, the Fonds Soziokultur aims to support socioculture by promoting sustainable foundations with new partners. Together with the cooperation partners, the pilot programme focuses on the development of the socio-cultural field and society in terms of sustainability goals, social cohesion, access to education and implementation in partnerships. The Techlab: Socioculture programme aims to explore how two very different sectors and ways of thinking can complement each other to achieve better and socially significant benefits and contribute to these goals.
